Fall 2026 update

The beginning of a new semester is always a time of reflection about what lies ahead in light of what lies behind. I’ve been animated by many interests in my work as Curator of the History of Science Collections. Four stand out:

  1. History of science and religion
  2. History of science and education
  3. History of geology
  4. History of the book

With respect to the first, I think of my ongoing work with George MacDonald, Thomas F. Torrance, and the Inklings. Current research projects sampler.

With respect to the second, I hope in spring 2027 to revitalize my distribution of open educational resources through kerrymagruder.com. Lynx-open-ed.org and skytonight.org were large-scale Drupal projects that have crashed and burned. (Drupal is dead so far as I am concerned for the digital humanities.) Open Educational Resources sampler.

With respect to the last, I define “book” very broadly.

And for this coming fall semester, I hope to prioritize the third, having had two publications appear already this calendar year (IUGS, INHIGEO) and one more that is way behind schedule and needs to be finished.
