It’s been a little over a year since I was diagnosed with breast cancer and began treatment (see December update).
I recently had an MRI and CT scan to see if anything new has cropped up, and praise God, everything looked good. My oncologist will continue to monitor periodically. I started chemo a year ago this week and I’m so thankful to be on this side of it! I still deal with minor side effects, possibly from the anti-cancer drug that I’ll be taking for another 4 1/2 years, so I’ve been redefining “normal.”

As my daughters and I prepared to sing the hymn, “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty” at Marty and Kelly Skrapka’s recent wedding, we discovered a lesser-known verse that sums up my praise:
“Praise to the Lord, who with marvelous wisdom hath made thee,
Decked thee with health and with loving hand guided and stayed thee.
How often in grief hath not He brought thee relief,
Spreading His wings to o’ershade thee!”
Grace and peace,
Candace
