Cathy’s believing

Down on my knees again,
Still believing
In the time of reason no more
Down on my knees again
Still believing
Peace of mind is worth any chore
Mary Black, “Still Believing” Still Believing - Babes In The Wood

Imagine a teenager with more than the usual confusion and bewilderment about the meaning of life hanging out with a couple of college students who practically every day for several years provided inspiration, guidance and mentoring in faith and life. Then imagine that their paths diverged, and that each traveled separate roads through many difficulties and hardships down through the years, without ever communicating in any way. Now imagine that nearly four decades later, two of them come upon each other and discover that both are still believing, still drawing strength from the same faith, still walking in the same hope that first drew them together, and still rejoicing in the presence of God at work around and within them.

That’s the story of Cathy’s influence upon me. That’s also why I’m so thankful to discover her blog, I believe in believing!

Cathy, thank you for long ago showing a much-younger-me a life-orienting vision of how great God’s love really is. What a joy to hear your voice, read your blog, and see that through the pain and sorrow, nevertheless, through it all, it is well with you, these many years later!

Cathy Patterson, I believe in believing!

“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. It is right for me to feel this way about you, because I hold you in my heart…” (Philippians 1:3–7)
