Go Christmas caroling sometime this Advent!
Why not plan a caroling party? Meet together to review some favorite carols, and even discuss their sources and history; then go caroling around the neighborhood, to the homes of shut-ins, or in nursing homes.
Got kids? As toddlers, our daughters would act out the Christmas carols we sang with their own plastic nativity sets. They didn’t need to memorize the words. And don’t hesitate to take children caroling with you!

Here are some carolers who braved the brisk temperatures last night to go caroling in our neighborhood (click any photo for a larger view):
What a privilege for Candace and I to host these happy carolers, and offer them hot chocolate and hot apple cider after they spent a couple hours outdoors, on one of the coldest nights of the year for us so far, warming neighbors’ hearts with the joyous sounds of Christmas:

Looks like a rough bunch to me. : ) Are you sure it was wise to let all those people into your house? You could’ve pretended the Christmas play and said, “There’s no room at the inn.”
If you note in the first photo, the guy in the back row just to the left of the Santa hat guy? He looks a bit like Christian in this photo.

What a joyful night! I should add that I was expecting the frozen choir to come barreling in the front door straight for the hot cider and cocoa. But instead, first they rang the doorbell and caroled Kerry and me! What a treat! Thank you all for filling our home with your Christmas spirit and song.
I love the “Messiah” videos. I shamelessly wept when I first viewed the Philadelphia Opera one back in early November. They called it a Random Act of Culture. I call it a Random Act of Worship!
