My dear friend Laura Gibbs, who is my inspiration for all things related to the digital humanities, maintains a wonderful Latin Holiday Songs blog featuring 80 different “carols of the day.” You can see all 80, or subscribe by email, here.
One of my favorite Latin carols is Gaudete . As its name implies, it’s a lively carol announcing joy to all because Christ is born of the virgin Mary. I love to see it performed live; it simply calls forth joyous dancing! Here it is performed last year by the Celtic Praise Troupe, including my two older daughters, Rachel and Hannah:
